Be the change you want to see in your community!

The NAACP was founded on February 12, 1909, in New York City by a diverse group of African American and white activists, including W.E.B. Du Bois, Ida B. Wells, Mary White Ovington, Henry Moskowitz, William English Walling, and Oswald Garrison Villard. It was established to fight social, educational, and political injustice, partially in response to the 1908 Springfield race riot.

The NAACP Lee County Chapter is committed to civil rights advocacy, ensuring the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all citizens. We focus on community empowerment and strive to eliminate race prejudice while promoting social justice through active engagement and advocacy.
